So grateful that you took the time to thoroughly explain what it's like to live here. I receive guests all the time in the bookshop who ask about what it's *really* like to live here and many of the points that you touched on are also things they ask about specifically.

Appreciate you providing this resource that I can now point to!

Oh thank you for the kind words. So happy to hear I got their main questions as that’s where this article came from. I recorded a few call (with permission) from people that wanted to chat with me about life here. And felt like there wasn’t anything like it online so thought I’d share it <3

Your cutie little bookshop is the best, such a treasure here.

Definitely over here with a bag of Cheetos at midnight, but farm fresh eggs in the morning! Why we moved? In 2016, I was attending a workshop with a photographer in Maine, trying to fend off creative burn out and looking for something to bring me back to life. The photographer said during the week long event, "If you are not inspired by where you live, you need to move" - and that really struck me. - That very year we began building in Serenbe. I realized that what she was saying went far beyond my ability to create art, but the ability to create a life worth living. And for our kids... Our oldest worked at the Daisy during the summer and winter breaks and purchased her first car. That was years ago, and she still has to stop in and see Matt when she visits. Our son interned in college with Serenbe Design and currently works at the Inn in Guest Relations and LOVES sharing the community with guests. Our youngest, who attended The Heritage School, hosted prom parties and pictures here with her friends for years. She brought college friends home to visit, just to show them around and this past spring, we hosted her wedding at the Inn. I like your Gilmore Girl comparison, because Rory went off into the big world and realized her soul was rooted in Stars Hallow - and we all need a place to feel rooted!

A lot of Teslas? In 2026. That's problematic. Unless no one ever talks about politics...
